My Writing
I had a childhood in England surrounded by books. My Mum and Dad read stories to me at bedtime and my grandfather had a huge library. No wonder I wanted to write my own as soon as I could get hold of my uncle’s typewriter.
Words are amazingly handy things. They contain ideas. You can do anything you want with them - inform, inspire, entertain and above all create pictures in the imagination. It’s a two-way thing, a wondrous experience between author and reader that’s what is unique about writing.
I observe, reflect, experiment and, from all this awareness, my writing appears. I love people, music and I delight in the visual world too, but mainly I don’t want to do anything else.
